Mexican
Fan/Cotton Palm
Origin;
USA/Mexico. Cold Hardy to around -9C
to -11C. The fastest growing
Palms with fabulous light to tan
brown trunks made up from old leaf
bases. A 'must have' and two of
our most favourite Palms.
Reports
in USA of examples surviving
-12C to -24C (unprotected) with
total leaf loss, but showing
an amazing ability to recover
rapidly adding 8-10 new
leaves in the next growing season!
Canary
Island Date Palm
Origin;
Canary Island. Cold hardy to around -9
C.
Resistant
to wind. One of the most popular
palms in the Mediterranean.

Chusan
Palm
Origin;
China. Cold hardy to -15
C. Not suitable for windy or exposed
sites. Hairy, matted trunk. Popular
in Britain for 160 years.
First
brought back by Victorian explorers.

-10 C. Resistant to wind. Cultivated
for 8000 years for it's edible dates.
Recently 2000 year old seeds found
in an Egyptian tomb were planted & have
sprouted-the world's oldest seeds to
be grown!
